| The plant that our Story of the Seed team is experimenting with is Kohlrabi. The Kohlrabi is a very interesting plant the fully grown parents would have a magenta bulb at the bottom. The offspring would most likely have the same too. The genotype and the phenotype have the same genes from meiosis and the plants are most likely to have the same traits. The chromosomes will be changed and the offspring will have similar of different traits than the parent plant. THe plants differ in many ways because during meiosis the chromosomes of two parent gametes mix together and then independent assortment and crossing over happen. They differ because over time so many different chromosomes and genes have been made from different plants. |
