This is a picture of anthers surrounding a stigma. A flower is said to be perfect when both the male and the female parts are present in the flower. However, in some plants, the male and the female parts are not located in the same plan.
 |
| This is a picture of the same flower but with all of its parts stripped away. The only part that was not stripped away is the ovary. The ovary has been sliced and it has tiny ovules which are spilling out. IN Brassica oleracea plants, once fertilized, the ovary can become yellow, white, brown, tan, or black seeds which can germinate and start the growing of a new plant. |
